Frequently asked questions
What ages do you take?
From 12 months to 5 years. The house has one mixed-age group.
Can I see the house before I decide?
Yes. Book a tour and come with your child. It takes about half an hour, and you can ask anything.
What does a day look like?
Arrival, play at the table, a hot lunch cooked here, a rest, the yard and pickup. It's all on the day page.
What does it mean that the home is certified?
That the Division of Regulated Child Care, part of Kentucky's Cabinet for Health and Family Services, has certified this home to care for a group of children in a family home. The certificate number is at the bottom of every page.
How many children are here at once?
Up to 6 children, ages 12 months to 5 years, with 1 adult. The safety page shows the same.
Can my child eat what our family eats?
Tell Amela at the tour what your family eats and doesn't eat, and she writes it down. A few practices, such as no pork, lard or gelatin, apply to the whole house.
How does tuition work?
It depends on your child's age and the schedule. Amela gives you the figures in writing at the tour. The tuition page has the rest.
What if my child is ill?
We ask that your child stay home with a fever, vomiting or diarrhea. The family policies say when your child can come back.
Who may pick up my child?
Only the adults on your written list. We ask for ID from anyone we don't know.
What happens if Amela is ill?
She texts every family early in the morning, and a substitute you have met takes the group.
Who else is in the house?
Amela's own family lives here. The adult with the children during the day is Amela, and we introduce anyone else who spends time in the house at the tour.
Do you share photos of my child?
Not without your written permission. The first answer on the family policies page says how we ask.
Do you speak Bosnian?
Yes. Amela speaks Bosnian and English with families and with the children, and you can write to us in either.
How do I join the waitlist?
Write or call us with your child's age and when you hope to start. When a place opens, we offer it in the order families joined.
Would you like to see the house?
Come for a tour with your child, or call us and we'll answer in the evening.
