Family policies
How the day works, in the words we put in your enrollment forms.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
Please keep your child home with a fever, vomiting, diarrhea or a rash we don't recognize, and bring them back after a full day without symptoms. If your child falls ill here, Amela calls you right away and keeps them close until you arrive.
Drop-off and pickup
Every child is handed over in person, at the door. We release a child only to the adults on your written list, and we ask for ID from anyone we don't know.
Late pickup
If you will be late, call or text Amela as soon as you know. What happens when pickup runs past closing time is written in the enrollment forms, and she talks with you before anything else.
Meals, snacks and allergies
Amela cooks lunch and two snacks in her own kitchen, and nothing with pork, lard or gelatin comes into it. Tell us what your family eats and doesn't eat at the tour, and we write it down. Tell us about any allergy then too; once you enroll, we ask again in private.
Naps and safe sleep
Each child rests on a cot of their own, with a sheet and nothing else in the cot. Children who don't sleep look at books on their cot until the others wake.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close on the holidays listed in the enrollment forms. If Amela is ill or has an appointment, she texts every family by early morning, and a substitute you have met takes the group. If ice or snow closes the roads, we text families before 6 a.m.
Leaving the program
We ask for two weeks' notice, in writing or by text, before your child leaves the program.
What to wear and bring
Send a full change of clothes, a hat and sunscreen in summer, and rain boots and a warm layer for the yard from fall to spring. Please bring slippers or clean socks for indoors.
