Meals
What the kitchen does for every child
Lunch and two snacks are cooked here each day. These are the practices the whole house keeps.
No pork, lard or gelatin
None of them comes into the kitchen, so the table is the same for everyone. Amela reads the label on anything that comes in a packet.
Meat from a halal butcher
Chicken and beef come from a halal butcher in town, and fish and eggs are on the table on days a family asks.
Vegetarian when you ask
Tell Amela at the tour, and your child's lunch is vegetarian on the days you choose.
Your family's practices
Tell us what your family eats and doesn't eat. Amela writes it down, and everyone who feeds the children follows it.
Allergies, in private
Tell us about any allergy at the tour. Once you enroll, we ask again in private, and the plan is written down in the kitchen.
Water all day
A jug of water is on the table from arrival to pickup, and milk comes with the morning snack.
A sample week
Amela shares each week's menu with families.

From the kitchen
Lunch is a hot dish with something fresh beside it, and snacks are fruit, bread or yogurt.

Tuesday: bean stew with bread, yogurt
Wednesday: pita with spinach and cheese, tomato salad
Thursday: lentil soup, rice, steamed carrots
